Historic buildings require tailor-made solutions. ALPGATE designs gate systems precisely to fit the existing structure and meet the needs of property owners and architects. Especially in heritage projects, design requirements and preservation regulations are considered from the outset, ensuring that modern technology and historic character are harmoniously combined.
A perfect example is the revitalization of the historic Tschitscher Schlössle in Feldkirch (Vorarlberg). This over-500-year-old ensemble was sensitively modernized by Marte.Marte Architects. The challenge: integrate new elements clearly while preserving the original architectural essence. The gate system had to meet exceptionally high standards.
Custom solution for a historic setting
For this project, ALPGATE created a custom sliding folding gate, type SFT-SP-50, measuring 11,000 mm × 2,287 mm. The gate was delivered to Kilga Metall- und Torbau GmbH in Koblach for on-site installation. We sincerely thank them for the excellent collaboration!
The robust steel frame was engineered specifically for the building’s conditions and precisely fitted to the existing openings. Design coordination with the architecture was crucial. Additional exterior cladding panels were added, specially tailored for this project.
Efficiency and functionality
The gate features insulated sandwich panels with a PUR rigid foam core, achieving a thermal insulation value of approximately 1.7 W/m²K.
An electromechanical drive ensures smooth, safe, and convenient operation. The galvanized steel frame and high-quality running gear guarantee long-lasting performance and durability.
Modern technology meets history
The Tschitscher Schlössle project demonstrates how bespoke gate solutions can be seamlessly integrated into challenging heritage and existing buildings. Through careful planning, a solution was created that respects the historic fabric while fulfilling modern functional requirements.
