The city of Germersheim has constructed a new fire station that will replace the existing station on Sondernheimer Straße in the future. A plot of land in the entrance and exit area of “Germersheim-Süd” on the B9 expressway was chosen as the location. This forward-thinking building will not only serve as a fire station but also function as the Northern Service Center (DLZ Nord) for the fire departments in the northern district of Germersheim.
In collaboration with the city of Germersheim, the renowned architectural firm Kaupp + Franck from Mannheim, and with advisory participation from the Architects’ Association of Rhineland-Palatinate, a Europe-wide competition was launched to find the best concept for the fire station.
The construction of the Germersheim fire station is now almost complete. A total of 17 ALPGATE folding doors with internal drives have been installed in the elongated, compact cube.
Steimle Architekten from Stuttgart are responsible for performance phases 1-5 as well as the artistic supervision of this project. With their expertise and experience, they ensure that the fire station is not only functional but also aesthetically appealing.
